Wednesday Week 5

Hi,
The boys need to remember spelling and Problem of the Week are due tomorrow as Friday is the swimming carnival.
There are a couple of short story writing/poetry competitions coming up that I would like the boys to enter. I will organise submission of pieces. The boys have shown an interest in the pedometer that I am wearing at the moment, which of course has me thinking that it would be great if we all had pedometers. It would:
- generate more discussion around the purpose and other uses for pedometers
- give us opportunities for the real life application of some of our maths skills
- provide motivation for fitness through visible feedback and possible competition opportunities.
We could also look at setting up a walking group for interested students one or two lunch times a week which may then create a range of other opportunities. These are just a few ideas off the top of my head and I am sure that the boys would have even better ideas than me. My pedometer seems to be quite good and was out on special recently for $20. Let me know if you would be happy to support something like this and I'll get the boys brainstorming the sorts of things we can do.
