Hi,
Sorry, forgot to do blog for the last couple of days!
Walk a Mile in my Boots forms due tomorrow for walk this Friday morning starting at prep school office at 6:50am.
Homework contracts went home on Monday. I am setting less this term as the work load is heavier for year 6 with exhibition and year 5 have author study as well as inquiry.
Problem of the Week is very different this week as the connections to Maths are less obvious, however the problem solving strategies that can be used are the same.
This is a good one for focussing on process rather than an actual answer as many will not be able to come up with one. Writing down the fact that it is confusing, not knowing where to start, may be guessing and checking with different questions even if they don't work, is all valuable. Are there different types of questions? What does the question have to achieve? and so on are all building blocks for problem solving.
The main message - if you can't find the answer but have been through the process, made connections with existing knowledge across curricula, had a real go and learned one thing (even if it's about yourself ) then you have met with success.
Sue
